How to get to Gili Trawangan
Transport to the Gili Islands have now become a lot easier and more frequent. There are two main destinations you can travel from to get to the Gili’s.
Bali to Gili Trawangan
The fast boats are the main form of transport. You can easily book a ticket via your accommodation in Bali or through any ‘tourist information’ centre. Most boat companies have a website, but it’s usually more expensive. You can easily haggle for decent price, depending on the seasons. Always ask if the price includes pick up from your accommodation.
The two main ports: Padang Bai and Serangan. It roughly takes 2 hours to get to Gili Trawangan.
Lombok to Gili Trawangan
Lombok airport is an international and domestic airport located near the South of Lombok. From the airport you can grab a taxi or book a private car to the nearest port, the journey is approx. 2 hours. Depending on the flight times, you can stay one night in Lombok and in the morning travel to the nearest port and take the public boat or fast boat.
Lombok’s main port to get to Gili Trawangan is Bangsal. However you can get to the Gilis from Sengigi or Teluk Nara as well.
The public boats are cheap and it will take approx. 30 minutes to get to Gili Trawangan. When the boat fills up with passengers, that is when the boat will leave. There isn’t a specific time, but the last boat is at 5pm. If you take the fast boat, it will take max 20 minutes several times a day.
Once you arrive on Gili Trawangan, we are just a short walk away or you can take a cidomo (horse cart).
